Honey

Honey? In My HAIR?

I know what you're thinking. "HONEY? In my HAIR?"

Yes, in your hair. And no, it won't be sticky. And no, bees won't be chasing you.

Honey is a humectant. It attracts moisture from the air, which enhances my curl much the same way humidity does. It also adds a ton of shine and reduces frizz better than any styling product I've ever tried.

I use honey in my hair in the following ways:

mixed 50/50 (approximately) with a rich conditioner for a deep conditioning treatment

mixed 50/50 with a daily conditioner

as a pre-conditioner rinse, a few tablespoons diluted in about 2 cups of water, poured over my head after shampooing and left in when I apply conditioner, then rinsed out with my conditioner.

as a post-conditioner rinse, a few tablespoons diluted in about 2 cups of water, poured over my head after I've rinsed out my conditioner, and left in when I apply styling products.

added to any styling product in VERY small amounts (the tiniest pea sized droplet you can imagine).

Molasses works just as well, and seems to have particularly good shine enhancing qualities on dark hair.

There's no need to buy "fancy" honey (organic or whatever). I've always used generic honey and it works great. Save your money foor other hair goodies!
