Healthy Curls

Do Unto Your Hair...
My curly haircare philosophy is to treat my hair gently and with the utmost respect. If I'm nice to it, it tends to be nice to me.
That means no harsh sulfates, no coating silicones that need to be washed out with harsh sulfates, no (or very minimal) heat styling, and lots of natural ingredients.
The best thing I ever did for my hair, besides spending $10 on the book Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey (a fabulous guide for caring for curly hair) was to start reading ingredients labels and understanding what I was looking at.
I started realizing what ingredients were working for me and what weren't, and therefore was able to start buying products that were more likely to work for me. The graveyard under my sink started getting smaller, and my hair started looking better.

My only general rule is no sulfates, but because of that I have to avoid silicones, too. I'll talk more about both of those on the appropriate pages. I tend to avoid protein, too.
