Healthy Curls

Towel Drying

The Practice Known As "Plopping"

Click here for a description of plopping.

It took me a while to get the hang of plopping. The biggest t-shirt I could find wasn't long enough so that I could tie the ends at the back, and a microfiber towel is too bulky for me to easily be able to go about the rest of my getting-ready-for-work tasks while it's on my head. I'm still working out the kinks of it, to be honest.

I keep working on it, though, because I love the results. My hair is thick enough that it can tend to lack volume. If I plop for a little while, I get curls that go from my ends all the way to my roots and a lot more body than I get otherwise. Plus, it kind of "sets" the curl pattern I've scrunched into my hair much in the way using curlers might.

I've actually taken plopping to a different level now, though. Instead of plopping with a towel or t-shirt, I've been plopping into a soft bonnet dryer. Go to heat styling for more info about that.
